This topic is your starting point for questions about opening XBRL/iXBRL reports in the anuboXBRL Reader:
- loading an iXBRL/XBRL file or ZIP package
- upload errors or unexpected messages
- differences in how countries and regulators structure their report or ZIP packages
The general approach:
- Follow the relevant sections in the User Guide.
- Look around the Reader category and search existing topics.
- If you are still stuck, create your own new topic in this category.
1. Start with the User Guide (opening reports)
The User Guide explains the basic workflow step by step, including screenshots. In particular, please see the sections that cover:
- Quick Start – open the task pane and load a report
Please go through this section first to see whether it already answers your question.
2. Check existing topics in the Reader category
Before opening a new topic, please:
- Browse the other topics in the anuboXBRL Reader category.
- Use the forum search with keywords like
upload,zip,opening report,package,ESEF,US GAAP, etc.
You may find that someone else has already asked a very similar question for the same regulator or portal.
3. If you still need help – open a new topic
If the User Guide and existing topics do not solve your problem, please open a new topic in this category instead of replying here.
When you create your topic, please include:
- Which report / regulator / framework and year you are working with
(for example, ESEF 2024 for issuer X, US-GAAP 2023 10-K of issuer Y) - The exact file or package type you are trying to open
(single iXBRL file, XBRL instance, ZIP from portal XYZ) - What you expected to happen in Reader
- What you actually see (error message or behaviour, screenshot with sensitive data removed)
- Whether the same problem occurs with another public filing from the same portal
A clear title helps, for example:
Opening report: ZIP from [Portal] is not recognised by ReaderOpening report: ESEF 2024 filing for [Country] fails with error XYZ
If your question is about inserting values, sections or tables into Excel after the report is open, please use the Hub
“Using loaded XBRL data in Excel: insert values, sections & tables” instead.
